New year, new you, right?
When the calendar flips to 2024, many of us will get to work trying to keep New Year's resolutions. For college hockey programs, it's a chance to continue mapping out their future recruiting classes.
High school sophomores can begin hearing from colleges about potential recruits in this new year — on June 15. They can officially extend offers on Aug. 1.
Below are 13 sophomores who should hear from colleges soon. All should have shots at earning commitments as they enter their junior years in August, while a handful project to be can't-miss recruits.
Of course, plenty of others not mentioned across the prep and high school levels will be in the mix, too.

Caroline Averill
Phillips Andover, 1/14/2007, F, right shot, 5-7
Hometown: Wayland, Mass.
It's crazy to think Averill is still only a sophomore. The highly touted prospect is a human highlight reel, one of the best playmakers in the NEPSAC. She has elite vision and smooth hands, always looking to break into the dangerous areas of the ice. Averill is consistently around the front of the net, scoring with quick releases or crafty deflections. She'll be one of the headliners for Team USA at the U-18 Women's Worlds next month.
Tina Scalese
Groton, 1/17/2008, F, right shot, 5-3
Hometown: West Boylston, Mass.
Groton coach Tim LeRoy calls Scalese a "program changer," and it's easy to see why. She's led the Zebras in scoring each of the last two seasons, highlighted by her 23 goals and 43 points in 25 games as a freshman last year. Scalese consistently drives play whenever she's on the ice, dominating possession and showing tremendous patience with the puck. She's always looking to make a move to the slot and plays above her size.
Gretta Hulbig
Nobles, 8/11/2007, F, left shot, 5-7
Hometown: Foxboro, Mass.
Hulbig has had a huge start to the season for Nobles, including five points (four goals) in four games at the Harrington Tournament. She's already passed her goal total from last season (four) and is well on her way to smashing her point total (12). Hulbig is a powerful player, an effective forechecker and does a great job of finishing chances around the net.
Devon Moore
Notre Dame (Hingham), 02/2008, F, right shot, 5-3
Hometown: Milton, Mass.
Moore has stepped right into a key role on NDA's top line after the Cougars lost Morgan Brady (Middleboro, Mass.) to the prep ranks. She has powerful strides and a solid shot. Moore has been on a tear to start, too, including a four-point (2g, 2a) outing in NDA's recent win over Pembroke.

Megan Hosman
Loomis Chaffee, 01/2008, D, right shot, 5-9
Hometown: Ann Arbor, Mich.
Hosman is a do-it-all force on Loomis Chaffee's top defensive pair. She eats minutes for the Pelicans, playing in all situations. She plays a well-rounded defensive game, using her size and reach to her advantage, similar to fellow sophomore defender Carly Dann (Hanover, NH). Hosman was one of five 2008's to participate at USA Hockey's U-18 development camp this summer, too.
Zola Piekarski
Williston Northampton, 11/3/2006, F, right shot, 5-3
Hometown: Concord, Mass.
Piekarski is a smart player with a tremendous release. She gets shots away quickly, powerfully and accurately, able to score in tight and from range. She creates scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates, running the left flank on her off-wing on Williston's top power play unit. Piekarski seems to have a clutch gene, too, coming up with big goals on the regular for the Wildcats, including the eventual game-winner in last year's Elite 8 final.
Annie Schwarz
Loomis Chaffee, 02/2008, F, left shot, 5-5
Hometown: Fairfield, Conn.
Schwarz had a solid freshman season for Loomis Chaffee, and her development has continued into her sophomore year, now bigger and stronger. She's a speedy, strong skater who sees the ice well, able to gain the attacking zone with possession. Schwarz gets shots away quickly and does plenty of damage in the slot.
Quinn Taylor
NAHA White 19U, 11/11/2007, F, right shot, 5-7
Hometown: Centerville, Mass.
Taylor has been able to produce on a consistent basis in each of the last three seasons with NAHA, finishing with 36 points (15 goals) last season with NAHA Red U-16 after 48 points (23 points) the season prior. This year, she's on track to shatter last season's totals, sitting at 12 goals and 26 points through 38 games. She skated at USA Hockey's U-18 development camp this summer on top of competing in the U-18 series against Canada.
Mary Quatrale
Milton Academy, 11/3/2007, D, right, 5-10
Hometown: Pembroke, Mass.
Quatrale has been making an impact as a two-way blue-liner since she was an eighth-grader playing for Pembroke High. An injury limited her season last year at Milton, but she was a point-per-game player when she was healthy. She logs heavy minutes for the Mustangs and is effective on each shift. She uses her size to overpower opponents and has a long reach to break up plays. She's active at the offensive blue line, able to get shots through traffic and unafraid to jump into the play.
Tess Mulkerron
St. Paul's, 3/2/2007, F, left shot, 5-5
Hometown: Concord, N.H.
Mulkerron is a key contributor in St. Paul's top six. She's an effective power forward who works hard each time she's on the ice and makes winning plays around the net. Mulkerron has strong strides, a heavy shot and isn't afraid to make a move with the puck.
Nuala Gibbs
Lawrence Academy, 6/25/2008, F, left shot, 5-11
Hometown: Williamstown, Ont.
Gibbs is one of Lawrence's most dynamic players. She has effortless, smooth strides, drives the play when she's on the ice and always seems to find space in Grade-A ice to make plays. Her frame and skating ability alone should have her on radars.
LATEST MIAA RANKINGS: St. Mary's goes back to No. 1
Megan Donato
St. Mary's, G, catches left, 5-4
Hometown: Wakefield, Mass.
Donato didn't see a ton of playing time as a freshman for St. Mary's, but she's impressed early on in her sophomore season as she splits the net with senior Gianna Tringale (Danvers, Mass.). Donato already has two shutouts on the season, helping SMH to a dominant start. She reacts quickly and tracks pucks well. Donato is poised, even when under heavy pressure.
Lily McInerney
Phillips Andover, 7/2/2007, F, right shot, 5-3
Hometown: North Reading, Mass.
McInerney made a big impact on Andover's top line until she tore her ACL last season. When healthy, she's a quick skater with a nice scoring touch and high energy. She does well in battles, makes good reads and takes good routes on the backcheck to cut puck-carriers off and get the play going the other way.
