Winchendon announced last week that Connor Brickley will take over as its Director of Hockey.
Brickley (Everett, Mass.) will succeed Jeff Pellegrini (Lynn, Mass.), who departed Winchendon after five seasons to become the Director of Girls Hockey at Masters Academy International.
In the role, Brickley will oversee all hockey programming at Winchendon in addition to serving as coach of the girls Elite U19 program. He'll begin immediately.
“Connor Brickley is a leader who understands that athletics, at their best, are about far more than performance alone,” Winchendon head of school Sean Duncansaid in a press release. “He brings credibility, humility, and a clear commitment to helping young people develop the habits, discipline, and perspective necessary for success both on and off the ice. He is exceptionally well aligned with Winchendon’s mission and our emphasis on leadership and character education.
Currently the head coach of Nauset boys hockey, Brickley will continue coaching the Warriors (11-1-2) through the end of the season. He led Nauset to an MIAA Division 3 state championship last season, capping off an undefeated 24-0-1 run. The Warriors also reached the state final in 2024.
Brickley has also served as the Northeast Generals' director of girls hockey and hockey director for the Northeast Hockey Academy.
“I am extremely excited to get to work with these amazing student-athletes," Brickley said in the release. "The Winchendon School has a great foundation and framework that will allow a seamless transition to continue tradition and bring the program to new heights.”
As a player, Brickley played professionally from 2013 to 2020 after standing out in four collegiate years at Vermont.
In 81 NHL games between the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers, he posted six goals and 21 points. A 2010 second-round pick (50th overall) of the Panthers, Brickley had 119 points (59 games) in 247 AHL games. He also had 26 points (15 goals) in 33 games for Salzburg EC in Austria in 2019-20. At UVM, Brickley had 48 points (21 goals) in 117 NCAA games after standing out with the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers.
A former Belmont Hill star, Brickley also won gold with Team USA at the 2010 Under-18 World Championship before playing in the 2012 World Juniors.
