The 2018 USA Hockey Select 17 Player Development Camp, taking place June 26-July 2 at the Northtown Center in Amherst, N.Y., is the first major scouting showcase for the 2019 NHL Draft.
Players from all districts across the United States, including the Massachusetts and New England ones, were selected for the event. There are also at-large bids given to some players who didn’t make it or were injured during district tryouts.
The event brings together all of the top 2001-born players in the United States, except for players competing for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP). The field is broken into 10 teams that compete over the course of several days. An All-Star game takes place on the final day of camp. From there, the roster for the U.S. entry into the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament is selected.
New England Hockey Journal will on hand for the camp in Amherst, N.Y., with analysis to follow suit.
Below are the New England natives who will showcase their abilities in front of college coaches, NHL and junior scouts, and NHLPA agents over the next week.
