The 2019 USA Hockey Select 17 Player Development Camp at the Northtown Center in Amherst, N.Y. showcased many of the top 2002-born forwards in the United States, sans those on the NTDP.
From the camp, 13 forwards were chosen to represent USA Hockey on the 2019 U.S. Under-18 Men’s Select Team that will compete at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Slovakia and Czech Republic from August 5-10.
The forwards at this age group are deeper and more talented in general than the defensemen. There are a few forward prospects who project to be top two round picks come the 2020 NHL Draft next June in Montreal.
With that being said, the college coaches in attendance didn’t have much to choose from in terms of uncommitted talent.
