Harvard freshman defenseman Reilly Walsh (North Falmouth, Mass.) has been cut from the U.S. National Junior Team.
USA Hockey likely decided that Walsh’s skill set is too similar to fellow blue liners Adam Fox and Quinn Hughes, who are slated to make the team. Walsh, who played prep hockey at Proctor, has three goals and five assists in 10 games for the Crimson.
Walsh, a third round pick of the New Jersey Devils, is a ’99 so he’s eligible for the tournament next year, and will likely make that team. With Walsh’s removal, the U.S. is down to 26 players so there are still four players left to be cut.
