Two Massachusetts natives have been offered a spot on USA Hockey’s NTDP U-17 team for the 2018-19 season following the conclusion of the NTDP Evaluation Camp that took place the past five days in Plymouth, Mich.
Milton Academy freshman center Matt Beniers (Hingham, Mass.) and St. Sebastian’s sophomore goaltender Drew Commesso (Norwell, Mass.) both received offers to play for the prestigious program.
Beniers, a late ’02, is one of the most coveted uncommitted prospects in the country. Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, Northeastern and Providence are all pursuing Beniers. He’s a very good skater who competes hard and can make plays as well as finish.
Commesso is a Boston University recruit who has long been considered the top goaltender in this age group. Commesso was the full-time starter for the Arrows this past season after splitting time as a freshman.
