Boston Advantage 18-U defenseman Timothy Lovell has de-committed from Ohio State, multiple sources have confirmed to New England Hockey Journal.
The left-shot '02 from Hingham, Mass., committed to the Buckeyes last December. A first-year eligible prospect for the 2020 NHL Draft, Lovell is rated as a 'C' prospect by NHL Central Scouting.
Lovell's skating, vision, and puck skills are all very good, but the biggest concern is his size -- he was measured at just over 5-foot-5 when NHL Central Scouting measured him earlier this season. Lovell will help whatever school lands him in terms of breaking pucks up ice and on the power play.
According to sources, Boston College and Northeastern have both offered Lovell a scholarship for the 2020-21 season. There are likely other schools that have offered him, but those are the two that seem to be the leaders in the clubhouse. Lovell would benefit from a year of junior hockey before heading to college, but it seems likely he'll head right to school.
