Three New England players were named to the 2019 U.S. Junior Select Team that will compete in the 2019 World Junior A Challenge this December in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
On Tuesday afternoon, USA Hockey announced its 21-man roster that will compete in the five-team tournament. In addition to the Americans, the other four teams in the event are Canada East, Canada West, Czech Republic, and Russia.
The U.S. entry will be led by Tri-City Storm head coach Anthony Noreen. Assistant coaches are Omaha Lancers head coach David Wilkie, Waterloo Black Hawks associate head coach Shane Fukushima, and Sioux City Musketeers associate head coach Mark Abalan.
Chicago Steel forwards Sean Farrell (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Ben Meehan (Walpole, Mass.) are the three New Englanders on the roster.
