College hockey recruiting season is in full swing.
There have been plenty of notable girls commitments to track since rising juniors became eligible to commit on June 15.
On the boys side, this past Aug. 1 was slower than previous years, but there have still been a plethora of high-profile commits to note around the region as well.
Naturally, it was a perfect opportunity to unpack some of the most notable trends, commitments and more on the latest RinkWise podcast.

New England Hockey Journal editor Evan Marinofsky joined writer Patrick Donnelly to break it all down. They started by looking around the region in Hockey East, the ECAC and more before taking a look at some of the biggest news in women's college hockey recruiting.

What do CHL stars coming to college hockey mean for the landscape?
Marinofsky: "A big one was Roger McQueen (committing to Providence College). How about that? I'm very interested to see waht his impact is when he comes to college hockey. ... That's a huge get. The more of those guys coming to Hockey East or the ECAC, the better. I think it also speaks to how good college hockey is getting, where you're getting someone like McQueen. You're seeing this with Gavin McKenna (Penn State) and other guys like that — Porter Martone going to Michigan State. This is the thing you're gonna see, and this is why these guys are coming in. Players do need to be more realistic with where they're picking. Your higher end schools are gonna take guys like that. It's something to consider."
What to make of the way some Ivy League programs are trending in men's recruiting?
Marinofsky:Â "I like the direction Dartmouth seems to be going, and that is, they're gonna take high-end prep kids, who your Beanpot schools might wait a little bit to commit, where they might say, 'We want him in a couple years. Or, you know, 'We're gonna wait and see on Player X.' Darmouth is saying, 'No, we're taking those guys. We want those guys. We want high-end prep kids.' They're realizing they have a pipeline. I don't know this for a fact, but I think Dartmouth has figured out that they can pick up slack that maybe they couldn't have picked up years ago. Maybe they can tap into that market."
