Over the weekend, Nick Capone gave good news to one college hockey program and bad news to another.
The East Haven, Conn., native de-committed from the University of Maine, switching his allegiance to the University of Connecticut. Capone informed both coaching staffs over the weekend. Capone committed to the Black Bears nearly three years ago.
Capone, who played the last two seasons at Salisbury, is beginning his first full season of junior hockey with the Tri-City Storm in the USHL. A late '01, Capone is a potential prospect for the 2020 NHL Draft. His best attributes are his size, physicality and ability to protect pucks and drive possession below the dots. His skating is an area of his game that could use improvement.
