Northeastern University head coach Jim Madigan has hired Matt Harlow to be the program's new Director of Hockey Operations.
Harlow most recently had been the interim head coach at Tabor Academy and head coach of the Neponset Valley River Rats 15s. The Bridgewater, Mass., native was a four-year standout at Noble & Greenough before heading to Brown University. Harlow played for the Bears from 2011-2015.
Harlow replaces Jason Smith, who left the Huskies last month to become an assistant coach at Brown University. Harlow joins associate head coach Jerry Keefe and assistant coach Mike McLaughlin on Madigan's staff.
Amonte out for season
Boston University's forward depth took a blow before the season even started, it was revealed Thursday. As first reported by the Boston Hockey Blog, Ty Amonte will miss the entire 2019-20 season with an upper body injury.
Amonte, from Norwell, Mass., had eight goals and eight assists in 37 games for the Terriers last season. He'll be redshirt junior when he returns to the ice next October.
Bolduc bolts for QMJHL
Zachary Bolduc has left Mount Saint Charles after just a month at the Woonsocket, R.I., school. The school's first line center on the 16-U team has opted to join Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL.
Bolduc, an '03 from Becancour, Quebec, is an elite center with a good stick, high compete level and strong skating. He had just come off playing for Sioux City Musketeers in the USHL Fall Classic.
With the move to the QMJHL, the courting of Bolduc by numerous top college programs will come to an end as he becomes ineligible by NCAA rules. Bolduc could very well be a first round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
KUA adds Fantilli
While Bolduc opted to leave for north of the border, another top Canadian decided to come to the United States to play prep school hockey. It was announced last weekend that Adam Fantilli, a late '04 from Toronto, Ontario, would join his brother at Kimball Union. The Wildcats are looking to make it four straight as Tim Whitehead's team has won three consecutive NEPSAC Elite 8 Championships.
Fantilli had started the 2019-20 season with the Toronto Jr. Canadians in the GTHL. He is projected to be a top three pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.
