Some of the best Division 3 college hockey in the country is played in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, more frequently known as the NESCAC.
A few months ago, NESCAC champion Colby College made the Frozen Four. Trinity College won the 2015 Division 3 National Championship, and Middlebury won eight titles from 1995 through 2006, including five in a row at one point.
The NESCAC programs provide a terrific academic opportunity, all while playing great college hockey. More players and families should be open to pursuing this avenue.
For the past several summers, Chuck Hughes and Dan Donato have hosted the Road to College Showcase at Babson College. The purpose of the event was to allow academically-inclined players the chance to showcase themselves before NESCAC programs, plus other D3 ones such as Babson and Hobart. Unfortunately, the event is taking a one-year hiatus in 2018.
But that hasn't stopped those coaches from tracking the top seniors-to-be in prep school and following their progress as the 2018-19 season nears.
Mindful of that, here are the top 10 rising seniors on the radar of NESCAC and other top D3 programs.
