Several players with ties to the New England region were selected by USA Hockey to play in the 2020 Youth Olympic Games, it was announced Wednesday.
The 17-player roster will compete in the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games from Jan. 9-22 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Former Boston College assistant coach Scott Paluch will serve as the team's head coach after guiding the 2016 entry to the Gold Medal.
Boston University sophomore center Jake Wise (North Andover, Mass.) led the U.S. in scoring during the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games. In six games, he posted six goals and four assists. Wise played for Central Catholic before making the jump to USA Hockey's NTDP.
Other local players on the 2016 team included Oliver Wahlstrom (Yarmouth, Maine), who is now playing with the New York Rangers, and Northeastern freshman wing TJ Walsh (Shrewsbury, Mass.).
