What was your most memorable hockey moment growing up?
“My most memorable hockey moment growing up, and during my career, has been winning championships along the way — (the 2005 Connecticut state championship in high school) with Farmington, (the 2007 New England prep school championship) with Avon Old Farms, (the 2009 NCAA national championship) with Boston University and eventually the Stanley Cup (in 2015-16 and 2016-17) with the Pittsburgh Penguins.”
What do you remember most about the final minute of regulation of the NCAA championship game in 2009 with the Terriers? You had the primary assist on the goal that cut Miami (Ohio) University’s lead to 3-2 with 59.5 seconds left and then scored the tying goal with 17.4 seconds remaining to force overtime.
“The sound of it — it was so loud; it was so intense. The feeling we got going back to the bench and celebrating with everyone, we knew we were going to win after tying it.”
