Boston University junior center Jordan Greenway has signed a three-year NHL entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild. The Canton, N.Y., native foregoes his final season of collegiate eligibility after a junior season that saw him put up 13 goals and 22 assists in 36 games with the Terriers.
The USA Hockey NTDP alum was a second round pick of the Wild in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Greenway had one goal in five games while skating for the United States at last month's Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Greenway is a huge, physical presence who can dominate games down low. He never truly reached his ceiling while at BU, but he had his moments. He's a player who the Wild will rely on as a middle six forward. He'll be able to muscle opposing defensemen off pucks down low and get off the occasional heavy wrist shot from inside the circles. Most of his goals will come from winning puck battles in the dirty areas.
Greenway will join the Wild in Nashville and burn the first year of his entry-level deal.
