The MIAA girls hockey season is underway.
Through the first week of action, there's already a lot to get to.
Some of the biggest head-to-head matchups included Haverhill/Pentucket/North Andover taking on Bishop Feehan and Billerica/Chelmsford, as well as Notre Dame (Hingham) and Feehan each taking on Bishop Stang.
Several teams near the top of our rankings, including Duxbury, Methuen/Tewksbury and Malden Catholic, have come out firing, too.
It all led to plenty of movement in the rankings.
Let's dive into our first in-season top 10.
1. Hingham (1-0-0)
Previous ranking: 1
Head coach: Courtney Turner
Next game: vs. Hanover, Dec. 20, 7 p.m.
The reigning Division 1 champs picked up where they left off with a 5-0 win at Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake to open the season on Wednesday. Junior Hannah Lasch didn't miss a beat with a hat trick, while freshman Maggie Pollenz got into the mix with her first career goal. The Harborwomen will look to keep rolling when they host Hanover on Friday before heading to Belmont on Tuesday.

2. Duxbury (3-0-0)
Previous ranking: 3
Head coach: Dan Najarian
Next game: at Plymouth, Dec. 20, 10 a.m.
The Dragons moved up a spot, thanks to a trio of high-scoring wins to kick off the season. The Dragons took care of Quincy/North Quincy, 7-1, in the opener, thanks to Shae Martin's four-goal performance. Ryleigh Burt scored her first two career goals in a 4-0 win at Belmont, and Addy Harrington had a goal and two assists, including one on the game-winner, in a 4-3 overtime win at Pembroke last time out. Abby Carter had the winner. Goalie Brooklyn Metzler has been stout to begin the year, too. Duxbury will head to Plymouth on Saturday before hosting Norwell on Sunday.
3. Methuen/Tewksbury (2-0-0)
Previous ranking: 4
Interim coach: Ryan Sheehy
Next game: vs. Andover, Dec. 20, 5 p.m.
The Red Rangers surged out of the gates with a pair of shutout wins. Sammy Ryan had a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Westford Academy, while Ella Duffy scored as well. Goals from sophomores Sarah Marano and Sophia Barbos, as well as eighth-grader Annalise Blaise (her first), paced a 3-0 win over Boston Latin. Senior goalie Lydia Barnes hasn't missed a beat, making 25 saves against Latin after cruising to a seven-save clean sheet against Westford. A tight matchup against Merrimack Valley/Dual County League rival Andover awaits on Saturday.
4. Malden Catholic (2-0-0)
Previous ranking: 6
Head coach: Alexa Hingston
Next game: vs. Nauset, Dec. 23, 3:50 p.m.
The Lancers bumped up a pair of spots after picking up two wins to begin the season, shutting out Boston Latin, 1-0, before outlasting a tough Woburn squad in a 3-2 win. The top line has been firing as Abbie Poole and Nevin Mustone set up Avery White's tally against Latin before Poole (from White) and Mustone each scored against Woburn. Megan VanDorpe also scored against Woburn. The returns have been strong for sophomore goalie Izzy Silva through two starts, between the shutout and a 15-save showing versus Woburn. MC has a brief layoff before hosting Nauset next Tuesday.

5. Archbishop Williams (1-0-0)
Previous ranking: 2
Head coach: Doug Nolan
Next game: at Bishop Feehan, Dec. 20, 3 p.m.
Archies slipped a few spots, but it's a reflection of multi-win starts for Nos. 2-4, more than it is a mark against the Bishops. It was a high-flying win in the opener, though, as Archies took down Arlington, 5-0. Izzy O'Brien was right back at it with a pair of goals, while Kendyl Nolan, Colleen Sansone and Sierra Reardon each scored as well. After Wednesday's tilt with St. Mary's was postponed to February, the Bishops won't be back in action until Saturday when they head to Bishop Feehan for a key clash.
6. Milton (1-0-0)
Previous ranking: 5
Head coach: Matt Lodi
Next game: at Weymouth, Dec. 20, 6:30 p.m.
Milton dipped one spot for the same reasons that Archbishop Williams slid. The Wildcats took care of Walpole, 7-0, in the opener on Wednesday, thanks to a hat trick from top scorer Sabrina Stone. Mia Cataruzolo scored her first varsity goal before adding another, while Colette Gorham scored her first, too. Caera Hart picked up where she left off with a shutout. Milton faces another Bay State Conference foe in a road trip to Weymouth on Saturday. They'll also host Martha's Vineyard on Monday.
7. Notre Dame (Hingham) (0-0-1)
Previous ranking: 7
Head coach: Bill Burke
Next game: vs. HPNA, Dec. 20, 3:30 p.m.
The Cougars stayed put after settling for a 1-1 draw with Bishop Stang in their opener. NDA peppered Stang goalie Vivienne Melo with 38 shots but couldn't solve the sophomore more than once. Eighth-grader Abigail Burke came through with the tally in her debut in a strong game for her, junior Chase Harmon and sophomore Abigail Gropman on the top line. NDA draws another tough matchup in a home tilt with HPNA on Saturday before visiting Boston Latin on Tuesday.

Head coach:Â Gary Kane
Next game: at NDA (Hingham), Dec. 20, 3:20 p.m.
The Lions surged into the top 10 after a pair of shutout wins to kick off the season, upsetting then-No. 8 Bishop Feehan, 2-0, and knocking off Billerica/Chelmsford, 1-0, on the road. Sophomore goalie Chris Hinchcliffe has been terrific through her first two career starts with two clean sheets, including a 23-save outing versus B/C, while Mia Kmiec scored. Maddie Bush and Charlotte Woodford supplied the offense versus Feehan. HPNA will face its toughest test yet at NDA on Saturday before hosting Newburyport on Tuesday.
9. Bishop Feehan (1-1-0)
Previous ranking: 8
Head coach: Mike Cripps
Next game: vs. Archbishop Williams, Dec. 20, 3 p.m.
Feehan dropped a spot after splitting their first two games of the season, bouncing back from the loss to then-unranked HPNA before taking down rival Bishop Stang, 2-0. The Shamrocks got quick-strike offense to take control early against Stang, thanks to Annie Lough's goal 30 seconds in before Mia Zammiello added another in the first. Aviva Olitsky earned the shutout in net. Feehan will have its hands full against a dangerous Archies squad at home on Saturday, as well as at King Philip on Monday.
10. St. Mary's (0-0-0)
Previous ranking: 9
Head coach: Frank Pagliuca
