At a Dec. 13 induction ceremony at the Boston Westin Waterfront, local hockey legend Ben Smith joined the United States Hockey Hall of Fame, in an illustrious induction class that also featured Boston University coach Jack Parker (Somerville, Mass.), Providence College alum Ron Wilson (Riverside, R.I.), Clinton, Mass., native Scott Young and referee Kevin Collins (Springfield, Mass.)
A former player at Harvard, Smith (Gloucester, Mass.) spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Yale and nine with Parker at BU, then took over the Dartmouth and Northeastern programs. He also served as an assistant on the U.S. National Junior Team and Olympic staffs.
