Former Hotchkiss and Harvard star Wiley Sherman has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins, per a release from the organization.
The Greenwich, Conn., native will join the Providence Bruins on an ATO for the remainder of the season. A 6-foot-7 defenseman progressed significantly during his four years with the Crimson. In addition to head coach Ted Donato, a former Bruin, credit has to go to associate head coach Paul Pearl, who works with Harvard's defensemen. His skating has improved and he has become more adept at breaking pucks out and escaping trouble. He has a good reach and will provide good size and another stay-at-home defender for the Bruins' organizational depth chart.
Sherman registered three goals and four assists in his final season at Harvard. The highlight of his college career came as a junior when the Crimson won the ECAC Hockey Championship and advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four in Chicago. Sherman had a career high 13 assists in 36 games during the 2016-17 season.
