A Massachusetts native will represent his country at the 2019 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament this August.
Cushing Academy center Billy Norcross (Lynn, Mass.) made the 2019 U.S. Under-17 Men’s Select Team, it was announced Saturday following the conclusion of the USA Hockey Select 16 Player Development Camp.
The week-long camp, held at the Northtown Center in Amherst, N.Y., was used as an evaluation and selection process to come up with the roster that will head to Germany in August. Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany will join the U.S. in the international competition.
Norcross is a great story as he was the fourth line center for the Penguins the past two years. He was flying under the radar of many college coaches and scouts heading into the week. Norcross had three goals and two assists over the five games during round robin play at the camp. He added an assist in Saturday’s All-Star Game.
