MARLBORO, Mass. — The Boston Jr. Eagles took down the Neponset Valley River Rats, 2-0 for the Massachusetts 16U state championship.
The Eagles benefited from a shutout performance for J.J. Thibodeau (Waltham, Mass.) and goals from Teddy Mutryn (Norwell, Mass.) and Billy MacAusland (Westwood, Mass.).
Mutryn opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game, with a wrist shot in transition after Thibodeau made a big save at the other end. MacAusland doubled the lead less than two minutes into the third with a deflection in the high slot off a face-off play for the Jr. Eagles, giving them insurance.
