Two locals made next season's U.S. National Team Development Program U17 team.
St. Sebastian's and Neponset Valley River Rats forward Jack Queally and Belmont Hill and Minuteman Flames forward Sam Lee got the call.
Unsurprisingly, both were standouts at Evaluation Camp midway through March.
Queally was a star for St. Sebastian's this winter with 35 points in 27 games, leading the Arrows to the No. 4 seed in the Elite 8. The Milton, Mass., native has also been a top producer for the River Rats over the last two seasons, leading the 14U and 15O squads.
The 5-foot-11, 181-pound center is known for his stout two-way game. At Evaluation Camp, Queally stood out as one of the few who could play in all situations. He was physical in the defensive zone and unafraid to take the body. But with the puck, he was patient and worked well with highly-skilled linemates. He's a powerful skater who is always keeping his feet moving and has a high IQ.
He will be able to play anywhere at the program.
Lee, however, is a much different player. The Woburn, Mass., native's game is all about skill. At Evaluation Camp, Lee showed outstanding poise and confidence with the puck, beating defenders on his own with his hands and skill.
That wasn't a huge shock.
He broke out with Belmont Hill, scoring 15 goals and totaling 32 points in 31 games. He was a top player for the Minuteman Flames last fall and grew up playing for the Boston Junior Eagles.
Both Queally and Lee were at USA Hockey's Select 15 Camp last summer.
