Brown University has picked up one of its best verbal commitments in a while, with Salisbury senior defenseman Luke Krys announcing Thursday that he would play college hockey for the Bears.
A right-shot from Ridgefield, Conn., Krys plays split-season fall hockey for Rochester Coalition 18U. He’s the younger brother of Boston University junior defenseman and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Chad Krys, as well as the son of former Terrier Mark Krys.
Luke isn’t as offensively gifted as Chad, but he uses his size and length to defend well. He can shut off lanes by using his stick and long reach. He does a good job of retrieving pucks and sending smart outlet passes up ice to push pucks north.
