While prep school hockey gets much of the media attention in New England, there are a couple of good full-season midget hockey teams that compete in the region.
The best full-season midget hockey teams in New England are Selects Academy at South Kent, Boston Advantage, Junior Bruins, and New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs.
Selects Academy, which pulls from all over the continent and across the pond in Europe, is the most competitive of the region’s full-season midget hockey teams. Many of the other teams in the region, such as the Boston Advantage and NH Jr. Monarchs, struggle when going up against the upper echelon of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League.
New England Hockey Journal has gotten a chance to see many of the teams and players that play full-season midget hockey in New England numerous times over the course of the 2018-19 season.
