Jayson Dobay was glad to see several of his close buddies get drafted by National Hockey League clubs the past three years.
Those pals include Jack Rathbone (Boston, Mass.), who was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in 2017; Jay O’Brien (Hingham, Mass.), who was plucked by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2018; and Aidan McDonough (Milton, Mass.) and Jack Malone, who both were chosen by the Canucks this year.
However, one particular name wasn’t called at any of those drafts — his own. And that motivates the 20-year-old blueliner “to work a little harder” to get to the NHL.
“You’re going to have a different path than those guys,” Dobay said. “In the end, hopefully, it works out.”
