Good reads

  • CSN’s Joe Haggerty caught up with Bruins forwards Dan Paille and Shawn Thornton and got their thoughts on former teammate Mark Recchi’s recent advice to strike a deal ASAP.

  • I think we went and jinxed Dartmouth. Following Dan Guttenplan’s recent ECAC Journal chronicling the team’s tremendous start (5-0-1), the Big Green blew a three-goal, third period lead and lost to Colgate.

  • NHL.com’s Mike G. Morreale takes a look back at the special season Pat LaFontaine and linemates Alex Mogilny and Dave Andreychuk had together in 1992-93.

  • In the span of one year, Charlie Coyle (East Weymouth, Mass.) has played in three different leagues, venturing from BU to the QMJHL and now the AHL. As the Winnipeg Sun’s Ken Wiebe put it, the former Terrier’s become pretty adept at changing on the fly.

Quick hits

  • Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s Eric Tangradi had a hat trick last night, leading the Penguins to a 3-1 win over Bridgeport.

  • Cam Atkinson (Greenwich, Conn.) had a power-play strike and a shorthanded tally in the second period on Friday, leading Springfield to a 3-2 win over the Norfolk Admirals. The Falcons are now 9-2-0-2 on the season.

History lesson

  • On this day in 2007, Tim Thomas faced 52 shots and allowed seven goals in a 7-4 loss to the Canadiens. Marc Savard and Glen Murray racked up a combined six points and together had a plus-6 rating in the loss. Twelve Habs players had at least a point, including Michael Ryder, who chipped in two assists.

  • Justin Timberlake, who purchased a stake in Myspace last year, explains how he hopes to make the revamped website successful again.
