AHL Journal: P-Bruins' offense firing on all cylinders

It’s hard to pick only one standout player for a team that won three straight games in as many days and scored 19 goals. Needless to say, it was a pretty big weekend for the Providence Bruins and some of Boston’s most promising prospects.

Seven members of the P-Bruins recorded four points or more over three games, with Ryan Spooner leading the way with seven assists. Even more impressive, all of Spooner’s helpers came in the first two games of the weekend as Boston’s second-round draft pick from the 2010 NHL Entry Draft was held scoreless in Sunday’s matinee.

In Friday’s 8-5 win over the Hartford Wolfpack,  Craig Cunningham and Matt Fraser recorded hat tricks with Fraser tallying a fourth for good measure. According to the AHL Communications staff, Cunningham and Fraser are the first teammates with hat tricks in the same game in over four years. Cunningham finished the weekend with four goals and an assist while Fraser finished with five and an assist. Fraser is now second in the AHL with 11 goals.

Not to be outdone by his teammates, center Carter Camper ended the weekend with two goals and four assists in three games, scoring two points per contest. Camper snapped a four-game point-less streak with his robust offense that included the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 5-2 win over the Worcester Sharks.

Alexander Khokhlachev added two scores and an assist on Sunday’s 6-0 win over the Wolfpack, giving him a total of three goals and two helpers this weekend. Jared Knight and Joe Morrow round out the seven with four points apiece. Knight had a goal and three assists while Morrow assisted on four goals in Providence’s three games.
