NEWS & NOTES

* Sounds like mystery man Carl Soderberg will be making his season debut tonight. Boston had an optional skate, but we'll venture a guess and say Jordan Caron is the odd man out.

* Since dropping their season opener in Boston, the Lightning are on a 5-1-0 run, during which Ben Bishop's gone unbeaten. Tampa's most recent victory came in a 3-1 decision at home against Minnesota.

* The Bruins have lost eight of their last 14 trips to Tampa, including their two of their three matchups there during the conference finals in 2011. Nathan Horton was the game's No. 1 star with two goals in a 4-2 Boston victory.

ON A ROLL

ICE COLD

FUN FACTS

Reilly Smith (3 pts last 3 GP)

Milan Lucic (5 pts last 6 GP)

Brad Marchand (0 pts last 4 GP)

* Jarome Iginla's Flames lost to Martin St. Louis and the Lightning in the 2004 Stanley Cup Final. Iginla didn't record a point in the final two games of the seven-games series after leading the way with 13-9-22 totals in Calgary's first 24 playoff tilts that year.

Martin St. Louis (7 pts last 4 GP)

Teddy Purcell (6 pts last 4 GP)

B.J. Crombeen (0 pts last 7 GP)

* Forward Tyler Johnson was the MVP in the American Hockey League last season.

* Nate Thompson was captain of the Providence Bruins in 2007-08, his fourth and final year in the Bruins' organization.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

* I think we're going to see a much better Tampa team than the one Boston got away with plenty of sloppiness against in their season opener. Ben Bishop has been a beast between the pipes, while Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis have come alive for the Bolts. Bishop's made just one start in his career against Boston, which came on Apr. 5, 2012, as a Senator. He allowed three goals on 27 shots in a 3-1 loss.

* It seems the only way the B's will get the best of Bishop is if they can create enough power-play opportunities for themselves. Tampa's penalty kill has been dreadful early on. Tampa's starting goalie owns a .963 save percentage during 5-on-5 play, but he clocks in at .879 on the PK. Boston ended a PP slump with a goal from Dougie Hamilton on the man advantage Thursday against Florida. Let's see if the B's can put a little power-play streak together here.

* Jarome Iginla has defied logic through Boston's first six games. Despite the fact his linemates (Krejci, Lucic) lead the team with five points each, the winger's lone point is an assist on a Chris Kelly goal. Eventually the tide will turn for the future Hall of Famer. I'm going to be bold and say tonight's the night. Iginla has 2-3-5 totals in three career games against Bishop.
