OBSCURE STATS

Boston: The Bruins goaltenders have combined for four shutouts this season. Tuukka Rask is 4-2 in the shootout (Khudobin has not taken part in one this year).

Carolina: Hurricanes goalies have combined for two shutouts this year. Dan Ellis is 0-1 in the shootout (the team’s lone shootout this season).

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

  • The Hurricanes’ offense is ice cold and they’ve been giving up three to four goals just about every game. Boston’s been slumping of late, but they absolutely have to take two points out of this one.

  • Claude Julien has placed his two leading goal scorers, Brad Marchand (14) and Jaromir Jagr (15), with Greg Campbell, who usually centers the fourth line and has just two goals on the year. Not sure I’m a fan of that move. Let’s see how long they stick together.

  • Chris Kelly will probably be a little rusty in his return to action. Nevertheless, it’s unquestionably a boost to have him return, given his strong faceoff numbers and pivotal role on the penalty kill prior to getting injured.

BETWEEN THE PIPES
Boston: Tuukka Rask (16-6-4, 1.95, .927)
Carolina: TBD
