NEWS & NOTES

* Defenseman Dougie Hamilton and Chris Kelly were cleared for contact at practice on Friday in Wilmington. It sounds like the former may be in the lineup Saturday in Philly, while the latter's a week or so away from returning to action.

* The B's have had off since a 3-2 win over Los Angeles on Monday at TD Garden.

* The Flyers come into this one losers of three straight. Not counting the shootout, they've given up 21 goals over the last six games (3.50/game).

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

* Steve Mason stood on his head in the first two months of the season, but the netminder's efforts weren't rewarded with many wins. Now, the tables have turned. Mason had a 2.92 goals-against average in December but managed to go 7-1-1. His 3.32 goals-against average in January seems to be catching up to him, as Philly's 3-3-1 when Mason's been the deciding goalie in 2014. The Bruins will look to make it six-straight games in which he's allowed three-plus goals.

* Down the other end of the rink, Tuukka Rask will be looking to earn just his second victory in the last six starts. The Finnish netminder played very well in a 3-2 loss out in Chicago on Jan. 19. He should come in completely refreshed, having gotten five full days off.

* The B's will get their first look at Vinny Lecavalier in a Flyers uniform. The longtime leader of the Lightning has 11-9-20 totals in 39 games in his first season in Philadelphia. He's currently on the third line and is playing the point on the Flyers' second power-play unit. Lecavalier did not record a point in three games against Boston last season while still with the Bolts, but he does come in with 49 points in 50 career games against the Black and Gold.
