Good reads

  • Sean O’Donnell, a Bruin from 2001 to 2004, has decided to retire after 1,224 games in the NHL.

  • It sounds like Bobby Butler’s (Marlborough, Mass.) making the most of his opportunity to earn an NHL roster spot with the Devils.

  • The Philadelphia Flyers have a new captain: Claude Giroux.

Quick hits

  • The Worcester Sharks will look to put an end to a two-skid tonight when they welcome the Hershey Bears to town. Center James Sheppard has four points in the last two games for Worcester.

History lesson

  • On this day in 2010, Adam McQuaid got in the second fight of his NHL career, taking on Brandon Segal of the Kings. Boston blew a 3-1 lead in the third period and lost in the shootout.

Today on NEHJ

  • We’ll have Shawn Hutcheon’s latest Juniors Journal, as well as Mike Zhe’s Prep Journal.

Entirely off-topic

  • Well, this is awkward. Iran is set to film its own version of the movie Argo in an attempt to let the world know their perspective on the 1979 hostage crisis. Ben Affleck likely won’t be starring and directing in this one.
