Tommy Cross (Simsbury, Conn.) got called up from the B’s ECHL affiliate in South Carolina and made his AHL season debut for Providence Friday. The former BC captain had an assist and was plus-2 in a 4-2 win over the Whale.
History lesson

On this day in 2010, Tim Thomas was spectacular down in Philadelphia, stopping all 41 shots he faced in a 3-0 win for the Bruins. Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic (empty net) tallied for the B’s. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 29-of-31 for the Flyers. For Thomas, it was his fifth shutout in just 16 starts.

Tragic story out of Kansas City this morning, where Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, a former standout at the University of Maine, fatally shot girlfriend, drove to Arrowhead Stadium and then took his own life.
