Good reads

  • TSN checks in with Cory Schneider (Marblehead, Mass.), who’s on the cusp of beginning his first season as the Canucks’ No. 1 netminder.

  • NHL.com lists a number of young stars – many with New England ties – who skated in the AHL during the lockout and are now poised to make an impact at the NHL level.

  • Scott Gomez, owner of one of the worst contracts in NHL history, has been told by the Canadiens to stay home and that he’ll be bought out during the offseason.

Quick hits

  • All 17,565 tickets for tomorrow night’s game at TD Garden between the Bruins and the Bruins – OK, they’re calling it the Black & Gold scrimmage – have been distributed.

  • AHL veteran Graham Mink scored the game-winning goal yesterday in Providence’s 2-1 victory over the Monarchs. The Stowe, Vt., native recently signed a tryout agreement with the club.

History lesson

  • Happy 34th birthday to Nick Boynton. The Ontario-born blueliner played in 299 games for the Bruins from 1999 to 2006. He was an All-Star in 2004 and a member of the NHL All-Rookie Team for the 2001-02 season. Boynton went on to win the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2010.

Entirely off-topic

  • Ravens special teamer Brendon Ayanbadejo gave the Patriots – who, duh, Baltimore will be taking on in the AFC Championship – some bulletin board material on Twitter last night.
