Boston College forward Cam Atkinson (Greenwich, Conn.) has been named one of three Hobey Baker Award hat trick finalists, the award committee announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Atkinson, North Dakota's Matt Frattin and Miami's Andy Miele represent this year's top three finalists.

A unanimous All-Hockey East first-team selection as a junior in 2010-11, Atkinson recorded 52 points -- 31 goals and 21 assists -- in 39 games. He ranks second in the nation in goals and has tallied 61 in the past two seasons.

Atkinson earned 2011 Hockey East tournament Most Valuable Player honors after he registered four points -- three goals and one assist -- in four league postseason victories.

Atkinson, who was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the sixth round (157th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, recently signed a professional contract with the Blue Jackets organization.

The Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced Friday, April 8, from the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., during the Frozen Four.  The 31st annual announcement will be aired live on ESPNU at 7 p.m. EST.
