What was your least favorite subject in school? Math. I hated it. I didn’t have patience for all the work you had to put into it. That or English. I hated writing papers.
What other sports did you play as a kid? Golf and baseball.
Which coach has had the biggest influence on you along the way? Red Berenson or Billy Powers, my coaches at Michigan. They really changed me as a person and as a player.
Do you have any superstitions? I have too many to name. If somebody followed me through my game-day ritual, it would scare people. I have to follow everything to a ‘T.’
What sports teams did you root for growing up? I was a big fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Red Wings. I was a Colorado Avalanche fan. I was a big Seattle Mariners fan when Ken Griffey Jr. was there. I was a big fan of him and Alex Rodriguez when I was a kid.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose? I’d probably say the character from “Fantastic Four” that can fly (Aireo). That’d be pretty cool.

Pregame pump-up song: “Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence
Movie: “Cool Runnings.” That’s a classic’ you can’t go wrong with that movie.
Actor: Vince Vaughn
Road city: Florida. It was warm.
Video game: Call of Duty
Restaurant: Can I go back home? A breakfast place in Ann Arbor called Afternoon Delight. My mom and I would go there every Thursday before I had class, because she worked in Ann Arbor on Thursdays. We’d go there every Thursday for kind of a pregame breakfast.
NHL player growing up: Peter Forsberg
Athlete outside of hockey: Can’t really say it now, after all the stuff he’s been through, but I’d have to say growing up it was Tiger Woods.
