NU's Brodie Reid leaves after freshman year
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- After completing his first year as the leading freshman scorer at Northeastern University, forward Brodie Reid has signed an entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks of the NHL. As club policy states, the financial terms of Reid¹s deal were not disclosed.
“Brodie accomplished nearly everything an individual can achieve in his first season at the collegiate level,” said Sharks executive vice president and GM Doug Wilson. “We feel that he is more than ready to take the next step in his professional development and we are pleased that he has chosen to do that with the San Jose Sharks.”
The Delta, B.C., native finished as the second-highest scoring rookie in all of Hockey East (behind Mike Collins of Merrimack) with 0.76 points per game. Reid finished with 11 goals and 17 assists (28 points) and was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team for his efforts.
Reid was the highest-scoring freshman at Northeastern since Jason Guerriero’s 35-point campaign in 2001-02.
