BOSTON — Boston University leading scorer Corey Trivino has been kicked off the team by coach Jack Parker (Somerville, Mass.) after being arrested for allegedly groping and attempting to rape a BU resident assistant late Sunday night, according to The Daily Free Press, the BU student paper.
Trivino, a 21-year-old senior, is charged with three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, one count of assault to rape, and three counts of breaking and entering in the nighttime for felony, as cited in criminal dockets the paper obtained from Brighton District Court.
According to the paper, Trivino pleaded not guilty to the charges and was held without bail until his arraignment.
Parker said in an interview with The Daily Free Press that this was the fourth alcohol-related incident Trivino has been punished for in his three-plus years at the university, and that Trivino was told back in September that one more would result in him being dismissed from the program. Parker also said he encouraged his player to seek treatment for his alcohol problem.
Trivino’s 13 goals lead all Hockey East players. His 13-4-17 totals lead all BU players.
The ninth-ranked Terriers (10-5-1, 8-4-1 Hockey East) are off until they play a New Year’s Eve game at Notre Dame on Dec. 31.
