Goalie John Muse signs with Portland Pirates

PORTLAND, Maine -- The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced Wednesday that they have signed goaltender John Muse (East Falmouth, Mass.) to an amateur tryout.

Muse, who practiced with the Pirates this morning, recently completed a four-year career at Boston College, where he helped lead the Eagles to two national championships (2008 and 2010).

During the 2010-11 season, the 22 year-old posted 27 wins, four shutouts and a 2.30 goals-against average in 34 games, earning first-team Hockey East honors. In his career, the 5-foot-11 backstop collected 89 wins in 144 career appearances.
