Editor's note: This Q&A originally appeared in the September 2010 issue of New England Hockey Journal.
What have you been up to during the offseason?
It’s been hectic and I’ve been doing lots of stuff with being traded to Boston and having to move my family. I’ve mostly been working out and trying to relax.
What other sports did you play growing up?
Lacrosse and baseball.
What were your best/worst subjects in school?
My best subject was probably gym, if that’s a subject. My worst was math.
If hockey ceased to exist, what line of work would you get into?
A police officer. My dad is a police officer in Canada so I would like to get into that field.
Do you have any superstitions?
Not really. I try to stay away from that type of stuff. It messes with your head too much.
What were the hours leading up to your first NHL game like?
I was really nervous and didn’t know what to expect. There were lots of emotions running through my head and I’m sure it will be the same for my first game in Boston.
Do you have any noteworthy nicknames?
Horty
What kind of car do you drive?
Range Rover
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?
Batman, because he can kind of do everything.
